Big Releases Coming

Konami has had a good year in 2013, but it looks like they’re already looking to top that in 2014. Here’s a sampling of what’s going down:

  • March 28 – release of Premium Gold. Re-release of previous cards (now in Gold rarity), and even some new cards… the Egyptian Gods have already been confirmed, so that’s a good sign.
  • April 25 – release of Dragons of Legend. Much anticipated release. Not much has been confirmed, but some of the Legendary Dragons from the anime have already been confirmed. That alone is reason to be ecstatic.
  • July 11 – release of Battle Pack 3. While I expect it to be much the same as the previous, we could get some new releases here, like the Egyptian Gods’ original artworks in the previous Battle Pack.

Also, the OCG has some more interesting news:

  • March 8 – release of Memories of the Duel King: Duelist Kingdom Arc. Probably one of my most anticipated releases in a while. Originally thought to be a promotional pack, it turns out it’s a pre made deck, which is also cool. Pretty much modeled after the Duelist Kingdom Arc (one of my favorites), we already have one confirmed unreleased card, Electromagnetic Turtle. Although this is a Duelist Kingdom deck, some cards obviously don’t belong (Dark Magician Girl, Electromagnetic Turtle, Slifer the Sky Dragon, etc.), but the setlist is still promising so far. It even comes with sleeves, a Token and the OCG-only Voyage to the Kingdom. I’m hoping for a TCG release. Looking into it, I hope they continue this trend for the other arcs, too (Battle City).
  • May 17 – release of Collector’s Pack: Duelist of Legend Version. In the OCG, this would be the follow-up to Number Hunters. With promises of cards from all eras, what’s not to love? Also, a TCG release is pretty much guaranteed.

In the realm of prediction, I’d expect to see another Legendary Collection put out… possibly Kaiba’s World? Other than that, it seems most of the Special Edition packs have already been announced. Though coming off of the Yugi/Kaiba Reloaded Starter Decks, I’d love to see more pre made Starter Decks hit the shelves. Characters like Bandit Keith, Weevil and Rex could totally make an awesome Starter/Structure Deck.
